Using the period of the property to inform the design, Lunar Lunar created a concept inspired by the language of the building architecture, complimented by an Art Deco palette.
The scheme offers a refined, statement living room in deep hues and natural materials. The blue wall shade was carefully selected to create a look that was strong yet gentle, while also highlighting the Art Deco fireplace - a key architectural feature of the property that was lost in the previously white room.
Velvet seating and brass finishes compliment the subtle, luxurious feel, creating a room that the owner would feel comfortable entertaining or relaxing in - as requested by the client. The look is complimented by the subtle curves and textures of selected furniture.
To soften the impact of the living room, the rest of the apartment uses a neutral palette of grey and plaster tones, lifting the master bedroom to create a much lighter space - a response to the original brief. Within this apartment block it would have been against leaseholder conditions to install any wooden flooring; therefore a luxury wool carpet was specified in a modern flat-weave. This floor treatment was installed throughout the living room, bedrooms and hallway, unifying the apartment and baffling sound between floors.
Furniture throughout was sourced from a combination of old and new, pairing contemporary aesthetics with antique pieces. Powder pink walls and dark accessories add a modern playfulness to the bathroom, where the design treatment needed to work alongside existing fixtures and fittings.
